we had wanted to do something grand, but we were afraid of the weather (which is totally unlike us). In the end, we decided to drive down to where BAGD and I used to live, years before the big kids were born. Back then, it was just him, me, Stinky and Gus (the cats). We had (casually) started working on our family back then, not knowing that it would take us another 3 years to get pregnant. So, our memories of that town are pretty different than any other we lived in. We had no kids and were not involved in any medical crap to get them. We were poor, we worked alot, BAGD was in school (for the first time, but not the last). All we did for fun was walk/run/bike along the river and go to the movies. So, we took the kids to the river and we walked today. We parked right across the street from our old rented duplex and set out just like he and I did almost 10 years ago.

The bike trail is nice and wide, with lots of tree cover. In most places, you can’t see the river, but when you can its very pretty. There are just a few footbridges in the area, so we took a familiar one that we hoped would lead us past some ducks. It did.
We had forgotten (or maybe its new in the past 10 years) that there was a formal garden on the bike trail. The kids liked the sundial. “Its some kind of old fashioned clock” Geetle told us.
Way at the other end of our walk, we stopped by the city fountain. Giggles was not a fan, but I think that is because she wanted to check out the playground nearby.
We stopped for ice cream and then finished our walk, right back where we started, BAGD thinks it was almost 3 miles. I don’t know, but if it was, the kids were pretty impressive. We did not hear about sore feet and boredom until the last 10 minutes where the bike trail becomes more of a parkinglot/sidewalk sort of thing.
On an unrelated note, and this is brought to you by Pookie, did you ever notice that baby Canadian Geese look like small ostriches? Its true.
