Things I will miss about not having twin babies this time

I am glad to be pregnant. I am glad to be having one baby. But there will be some things I miss about having twin babies.

  • I will miss the cute “hey! there’s another baby right there!” moments where they notice each other, forget the other one exists and then notice each other again.
  • I will miss the cute photo ops like the one above.
  • I will miss feeling like General of my very own baby army.
  • I will miss the grins and waves from strangers who always notice twins.
  • I will miss having them share everything

I once read an article about how even though its important to talk to your baby right from the beginning, some parents have a hard time doing it because it seems weird, too much awkward silence. I never had that problem, because I always felt like I was performing to an audience, not just one kid. It went something like this:

BAGM: (to infant Geetle): “Hello! How are you today? Do you want to wear this itchy sweater today? I think you do!”

Infant Geetle: (silence)

BAGM: (to infant Geetle): “Come on! Its got a duckie on it. You know you love duckies, right?”

Infant Geetle: (silence)

BAGM: (to infant Pookie): “Your sister is ignoring me, she thinks I can’t handle the silent treatment. Lets sneak up on her and squeeze her into this itchy sweater. Go!”

I hope that I can keep it going when my audience shrinks. If you notice that I talk to Taco Supreme’s stuffed animals alot, then you will know why.
