I burned my finger on the oven rack tonight. A bad one. While helping the kids get ready for bed, I found the Neosporin and a band-aid for myself. As I am wrapping my finger, I see the kids’ mind start to spin. (You know how they like bandaids and boo boos). Geetle starts with a complaint about a sore pinky toe. I look at it and tell her it looks OK to me. She retreats to strategize. Pookie grabs the neosporin and starts looking for the papercut he had last week. He inspects a few different fingers (flipping me off a few times) before settling on the right-hand pointer.
I happen to think my kids are cute, so I had already decided I was going to give them each a band-aid, but was waiting for them to come up with a good boo boo. Pookie shows me his pointer an says “I need a band-aid.” I say OK and start to unwrap one. He pushes it away and motions for the Neosporin. I smile slightly and give him a bit. Then we put the band-aid on and he trots happily to bed.
I turn to Geetle to see which boo-boo she has settled on. She does happen to have a few day old knee scrape and a bruise on her hip, so I figured she would go with one of those. She surprises me with one out of left field. She tells me her cheeks are red. This is a problem we have in the winter, dry red patches on her cheeks. Allright. Creative. I give her a dab of Aquaphor on each cheek and she is happy. Off to bed.
Cute little hypochondriacs.

I believe I caught those red cheeks from her on friday from Geetle while we were outside playing. Can I have a band-aid as well?
