went to a 1 mile walk downtown. It was organized to combat obesity and encourage all-around good health. It sounded like fun, so we went!
We were late for 2 reasons. First, we got caught by a train that apparently broke down or something. We had to backup and go another way. Second, we had to stop and chit chat with our former Kyukido Instructor. He complimented BAGD on how “fit” he was looking…so we had to stop and listen! Haha.
Because a 1mile fun walk moves like a herd of turtles at the starting gate, we were able to catch up in no time. We even had time to join the stretching session.
The walk took us along the River and thru a part of town that the City has really focused on for growth and beautification. If you are a frequent reader, you might recognize this area of town as our duck-feeding spot.
I swear the kids had more fun than it looks like. Pookie was upset here because he did not want to have his picture taken. Geetle is making a “I-am-posing-for-a-picture-and-I-am-6″ smile. Giggles is trying to get out of the stroller and walk.
After the walk, we stayed to play in the park. The jungle gym at this park is pretty unique; its like a spider web/trampoline sort of thing. The kids love it. Turns out BAGD loves it too.
Giggles got to ride the teeter-totter and we took her into the center of the spider web to bounce on the trampoline. She would agree it was fun.
All in all, we spent almost 2 hours at the walk and the park afterwards. When we got home, we had planned on a trip to the grocery store, but decided to be lazy. I went out to buy a pair of jeans and BAGD stayed home to count down the minutes until the big Iowa-Penn State game. (he is watching it right now). The kids played in the yard with the girl from across the street. I drew sidewalk chalk roads and they drove toy cars all over the concrete. Then they played on scooters and some game involving a toy hockey stick, a toy motocycle and a deflated bouncy ball.
It was a fine day…right up until the end when Pookie pushed Giggles again. I almost want to secretly teach Giggles how to give him a good heiney kicking. He does it to Giggles because she is vulnerable. He would never push Geetle because she would haul off and throttle him. And Pookie knows it. But Giggles is an easy mark. We are not sure what caused it tonite. We think it might be that he is having a hard time transitioning from “fun time” to “bed time”. We are going to work on that over the next few nights.
