I am a pretty skeptical person.¬† I do not forward chain letters, or even read them.¬† I can spot a pyramid scheme a mile away.¬† But when my friend Dina sent me a chain letter/pyramid thing for my kids, I thought it could be harmless fun.¬† All I had to do was send a children’s book to the kid listed as #1 on the letter, move Dina’s kids up to position #1, add my kids as position #2 and then mail it to 6 of my friends asking them to do the same.¬† Because it was for the kids, involved books and I knew the boy already in position #1 was Dina’s nephew…I did it.¬† I was excited, my kids would soon be getting 36 books in the mail, all addressed to them.¬† I knew they would love it.
Well….I sent the letters to 6 of my friends right around Labor Day.¬† Pookie and Geetle got a Halloween book within a week and then a CARs book a few days later.¬† They were so excited.¬† I told them I had enrolled them in the “Book Friends Club” and that these books were coming from my friends, just for them.
But then….no more books.¬† Nothing since September 15th (I know the date, because we happened to visit Dina that day.)¬† Come on people!¬† Did my friends not send the letter along?¬† Did the people they sent the letter to just ignore it?¬† I know that it’s a chain letter.¬† I know its a pyramid scheme.¬† But what’s the harm in sending a $3.99 book to a kid you don’t know (keep in mind that the kids are only one step removed from you, they are the kids of a friend of someone you know).¬† Why did my kids only get 2 books?¬† I am disappointed.¬†¬† I keep hoping that one day soon Don the Mailman will bring us 34 packages in one day.¬† But, I doubt it.

No, I don’t think any were from your people. I know you told me you forwarded yours on. We got one from someone in Utah and one that I know was forwarded by BAGD’s aunt Laura.
