Will Taco Supreme be born today?

Today is my official due date…October 19th. Will she be born today? Who knows. Not me, apparently. Statistically, only 5% of babies are born on their due date. If she has made us wait this long she might as well come today, since that would be a funny story.

If she is born today, then let me just remind you that she is the most punctual child ever. Not just because she was born on her due date but because she was born exactly 261 days after implantation (remember, she is an IVF baby, I know *exactly* when we first met). She went in as a 3 day old embryo, implanted 14 days after my system was shut down and artificial hormones were used to thicken the uterus walls, mimicking conditions during ovulation. This would be the equivalent of backdating to the last period. So 261 plus 14 plus 3 is 278 days. Add a day or two for rounding (was she 36 hours old when they put her in or 47? Will she be born closer to noon or midnight?). Human gestation is 280 days. You don’t get much more punctual than that.

If she is born on October 19th, maybe I will convince BAGD to add some momentous moniker to her name. The Italian word for “prompt” is Puntuale. Why Italian? Why not. Maybe you prefer Dutch? That would be Nauwgezet. Not such a pretty sounding word. French always sounds pretty. How about Ponctuel?
