Do you like my carseat?

bagm carseat cover

Do you like this carseat cover? Mamaw made it for us. The original one was a particularly boring gender neutral blue and green check that I was forced to have when the twins were young. Having boy/girl twins locks you into a certain number of gender neutral products and the stroller/carseat color scheme is one of them. There just were no other choices in the twin stroller/twin carseat combo.

But this time, I has some flexibility. I wanted something to match my red and black stroller. I also needed it to match the blue frame on the Graco carseat that I was reusing from the twins. Finally, BAGD is sick and tired of pink already, so this fabric was a perfect fit. It goes with red, black and blue, it is about traveling and its somewhat juvenile without being sickingly sweet.

Luckily for us, Mamaw is one of those people that can look at something, rip it apart and remake a copy without a pattern. So, she took home the old carseat pad and studied it. She made a new one from batting and my fabric. Perfect fit. She is still working on the sunshade canopy, but I have faith in her. I know she’ll be able to figure it out.

My aunt Tessie also had that skill, but she was a knitter/crocheter. She was house bound, but my mom, Aunt Kel and I would go to craft fairs and buy items that other old ladies had made; knitted hats, toys, ornaments, etc. We would bring them home to Tessie and she would study them. Never fail, she would be able to duplicate it with out a pattern. I know she liked the challenge.

You always hear about people who can recreate restaurant recipes after trial and error, finally getting the right taste. But you never hear about the people that can do it with crafty items. I think that’s more impressive.

I agree Mamaw is very talented. Tessie was too. Your grandmother could also do what you describe. Someone you know today and saw yesterday can also create like that. I envy all of these ladies for their talents.

Very cute… Don’t forget that Tessie could teach left handed kids to do amazing things too!! Pretty amazing! T-man and I colored and wrote his name today and I helped him perfect that left handed coloring stroke… Left Handers unite!! Let me know if you ever need my help in that area!
