Today Giggles found a watch that she thought looked like something Diego would use on his Animal Rescue show. She thought it was a Walkie Talkie, I think. She got a message on her Walkie-Talkie watch that the Baby Penguins needed rescuing. I told her that Geetle would help her find the baby penguins.
Before I knew it, they were downstairs putting on their winter coats and mittens. It was very cute the way Geetle was leading Giggles in the imaginative game. They went downstairs to pack Rescue Backpacks. Geetle found them each a Rescue Dog to take along. The game ended up on the couch, which I think was a raft or boat. Giggles was so excited to be playing a real game with Geetle. She was laughing and yelling about the baby penguins.
It was awesome to see Geetle lead the game and make it fun for Giggles. She helped Giggles find mittens and her own backpack. She waited while Giggles struggled up the stairs in her bulky winter coat. The basic concept was Giggles’ idea, and based on a preschool show…but Geetle was happy to play it. I think they both had fun. I know they did. Its not easy for a 7 year old to play with a 2 year old, but they did great today.

Lately Pookie has been cycling thru his obsessions alot faster. Each one is still quite strong, but they seem to be shorter in duration. Right now, he is running a few simultaneously.
He still likes to play fireman each day. Sunday morning he woke BAGD and I up by coming into our room to hang his fire hat and coat on our bedposts. He also recites the Curious George Visits the FIrehouse script alot, which leads us to another current obsession.
He listens to his Curious George books on CD every day. He likes the Fire House and Hospital ones best. He will sit quietly in front of the CD player listening to the stories a few times through. Then he gathers props and acts out the books himself. He always wants to take BAGD and I into the living room so that we can give him an X-ray. He hands us stuffed animals, so that we can “be” the other person in the story. This morning he was up at 6am…I was not…so he wandered into our room and kept stuffing animals in my hand while I slept. He gave up after about 5 minutes. The interesting thing is that he is willing to use just about any stuffed animal in the script. Right now, “Nurse Carol” is a blue fish, “Fat Fireman” is a black and white cow, Curious George is a Unicorn puppet.
He also still draws Baby Einstein pictures each day. Lately, he has begun to make much, much more than just the Baby Einstein logo. Now he draws pictures of scenes from the videos. They are very elaborate. Sometimes he uses markers; sometimes he cuts and pastes colored paper to make them.
Last week, he built a train track every single day. No matter how many nights I would take it apart, the next morning he would put it right back together, always in the same place…..in front of the refrigerator.
Old scripts and patterns also come back now and then. He has been playing with the Duplo Blocks alot. He did his USA Floor Puzzle on Sunday.
BAGD and I don’t mind his obsessions lately. We like that he is cycling thru faster and having more at a time. There is a thin line between “Things you Like” and “Things You are Obsesssed with.” Alot of his things are truly obsessions. If I take apart his train set at 4pm, he will rebuilt it at 4:30. He might not play with it. but he will NEED it to be built. But alot of his issues are just things that he likes to play with…and that is OK.

Ok, not really. But “Saturday Funday” does not rhyme.
Saturday we attended T-Man’s birthday party at the bowling alley and had a great time. We were proud of of Geetle for getting in there and mixing it up with a bunch of kids she did not know (T-man’s school friends). She had alot of fun and was on track to break 90 when the game was called on the account of hot dogs.
We were proud of Pookie for waiting his turn at bowling and being so excited to be there. Before we left for the party, he did not want to go. He wanted to stay home, he said. But on the way there, he switched from “can I stay in my pajamas and stay home?” to “where is the bowling alley?” Once we arrived, he was all ready to bowl and had a great time. He stayed near the group and followed all the rules.
We were proud of Giggles for being the only 2 year old 7 year old in the room! She played with her babies between frames, but when it was her turn…watch out! One of the grown ups would call her name and she would shriek and run to the lane. Uncle JB or BAGD would help her line up the ball on the floor and she would give it a push. By the last few frames, she would lay on the floor and watch the ball roll away. She was tired, but still excited to have a turn bowling with the big kids.
Today, Sunday, we stayed home and had no fun. So its a good thing we had some yesterday! Today we cleaned out the storage area of the basement and the computer room/sewing room. Productive. Fun for me, but not fun for anyone else, I am sure.

Geetle decided to spend the rest of her birthday money tonight. I let her place on order on Amazon. She was very torn between another Liv doll and a Razor Scooter. She really wants the Liv doll that comes with the Golden Retriever puppy. But she decided to order the scooter. Since she is doing so well understanding the value of money, we decided to increase her allowance to $5 a week. We counted how many weeks until she could get the other Luv doll and that made her very happy. She made a count down on her dry erase board.
The recent purchases say alot about her personality. The way she has spent her money says a lot about her maturity too.

Lately Giggles has been remarking that everything is beautiful.
BAGD is beautiful.
My new coat is beautiful.
Her potty is beautiful.
The cart at Walmart is beautiful.
She is a girly-girl and she likes to dress up, so sometimes she runs to the mirror to see if she is beautiful too. She is.

This is not PhotoShopped, I swear, although I am proud that you think I could do that. This is what I saw when I flipped our Tuna Burgers tonight. I told you this was a special recipe.

Geetle bought this doll tonite, with the birthday money she has been squirreling away for nearly 2 months.

Horse not included.
Its a Liv Doll named Sophie
and she might be going back to get some extra clothes and wigs (yes, I said wigs). She already has a Kleenex box bed and a horse.
We were surprised, but its adorable. Geetle is a multi-faceted individual. Just like we like her.
