Pookie was home sick on Valentines Day, so he didn’t get his classroom Valentines until Tuesday. He brought the bag home and was not enthusiastic, so I put them aside and figured we would go through them later. We finally got around to it Wednesday afternoon…and we found the coolest Valentine inside his stash! A Wack-a-Pack exploding Valentine!
Just as the package says, we laid it on the floor and Whacked it hard! We heard a POP and then the package slowly started to move and expand. Then a little balloon popped out and began to inflate all by itself! The kids thought it was so cool! Geetle wanted to know more about it, so I told her I would Google it. I did, and found a good explanation of how it works here. Apparently the Whack breaks open a packet of old fashioned baking soda and Vitamin C! The resulting Carbon Dioxide blows the balloon up.
I couldn’t find anywhere to buy them online, except Ebay (search “Wack a Pack”). I’ll have to keep my eyes open next year, I guess they often turn up at the Dollar Store. The kids would love to have these next year!

Yes! we found them for Valenties 2012 at the Dollar Store too! To bad they don’t come more to a package. I like my valentines cheaper than that. But totally worth it for your “best” valentines friends.
