Well, sort of. He wants something. And I think I can make it…so I will.

Pookie never wants anything I make for him. I made him a rag quilt. Nope, he prefers the rainbow striped comforter that came with his new bed (or so he thinks). I made him a stuffed bunny, a macho one. Nope, stuffed animals had a brief period of glory (last summer when he and Miss Stephanie used to have tea parties with Chicken, Snake, Money and Giraffe) but he is soooooo over that now.

Today, he asked me several times where his Dog blanket was. As far as I know (which is pretty far) he does not have a dog blanket. I tried to get him to say more, but he could not. He wanted to take his dog blanket to the 4th of July parade. But, we have no dog blanket.

On the way to the parade in WI, we had to stop at Wal-mart for our usual bathroom break, so BAGD and I decided to let Pookie pick out fabric and I would make him a dog blanket! It was a great plan! I would show him dog fabric and he would pick the one he liked and them I would be able to make him something he really wanted. I was so excited!

When we got to the fabric aisle, we found 2 or 3 prints with dogs. I showed him each one and asked if he wanted a dog blanket like this. No, he said, with gusto. I unrolled the bolts and wrapped them around his shoulders. See? A dog blanket! Is this the one you want? No, he said. We walked the aisles 3 or 4 times. He did not like any of the prints. Harrumph.

Then I showed him some light brown polar fleece and asked if this was what his dog blanket looked like. Yes, he said! I bought 3 yards, plus some dark brown for accent.

I have no idea how I am turning this into a dog blanket, but I think I have an idea of what he wants. He does not want a blanket with dogs on it. He wants a blanket that looks like a dog….literally. I am going to do some research and then get started. I want to finish it before he forgets he wants it. Stay tuned for updates.
