In my continuing quest for easily peeled hard-boiled eggs that I can put in my Japanese molds…..I purchased this little gem at the Thrift store for only $2.20 (that was full price, by the way…I didn’t even wait for it to go on color sale). The Eggstractor! We tried it today and had mixed results. [...]

Dinner tonight : Grilled Chicken with BBQ sauce (a perfectly ordinary thing, but we rarely eat it since BAGD is allergic) Broccoli with cheese sauce Whole Little Cutie Mandarine Oranges A fairly ordinary meal for a fairly ordinary American family. The extraordinary part, however, was that we had minimal complaints from the kids. After 8 [...]

Inspired by this post, we decided to make Flower Pot Cupcakes today. We were camped out at Mamaw’s watching Baby Corn Cob while his parents moved into their new house. It was a perfect project, since we took the cupcakes over to the new house that afternoon! Plus, it gave us a chance to buy [...]

Giggles likes to help me cook, just as Geetle and Pookie did at this age. The problem is she can’t always really *help* me. But, I just can’t seem to tell her no. Cooking with Giggles keeps me on my toes. Its stressful, but she’s really good about staying away from the stove and the [...]

I am getting pretty awesome at this lunchbox thing. I pack cold chicken patties, left over pizza, cheese and crackers, pancakes, pretzels with dipping peanut butter, Jell-o, Trail Mix, hard boiled eggs, muffins, hot dogs, sandwiches, noodles, and so much more! I sort of get my jollies from packing lunches now. I like the challenge. [...]

I was reminded of this the other day. Let me explain. My kids are firmly rooted in the 21st century. They expect a kids meal at any restaurant and they expect it to come with French Fries and a toy or a menu they can color. That is nonnegotiable. Fine. But I do try to [...]

Back when we vacationed in Boston, we bought Mamaw and Papaw a certificate for a “Complete Lobster Dinner for 2″ from Legal Sea Foods as a thank you for watching the kids. They had it delivered yesterday and invited us all over to watch the show! First, the guests of honor: 2 live Lobsters, shipped [...]

Don’t try Quinoa. I don’t know who thought up this joke of a food, but its not funny. This stuff may be the Incan Super Grain, but there may be a reason the Incas don’t eat it any more. It looks like curled up little worm skeletons. It smells horrible. Who would eat this? We [...]

I believe in reaching a happy middle ground with children, when it comes to food tastes. I do force mine to try new things and withhold treats if they do not make an effort or finish something I know they can deal with. But I also try to work with them. They like oatmeal, but [...]
