I went to the Doctor yesterday. 37 1/2 weeks….internal exam! I have been feeling loose and ready to go, so I thought the Dr. would tell me that I was on my way. But, no. I am dilated 1 measly centimeter and the baby is not engaged. She is floating somewhere above my pelvis, still head down, but nowhere near the cervix yet.
1 measly centimeter.
So right now, I could deliver any of the following:
- a green olive
- a Brazil Nut
- a piece of HoneyComb cereal
- half of a Hush Puppie
- a Lego
But sadly, no full term baby is coming out of that hole any time soon.
I am “full-term” by the way. The Dr. said its OK to start wishin’ and hopin’. If the baby comes now, we are OK. She said I should use gravity to my advantage and walk around alot, which is a really funny thing to say to a woman who barely has the energy to walk up the stairs, because she only slept 4 hours the night before. She also told me to ask BAGD for some of nature’s own Pitocin, if you know what I mean.
I guess I should have seen this one coming. I did keep Pookie and Geetle in for 38 weeks. Combined, they were almost 14 pounds of baby. I grow ‘em big. And I keep ‘em in there, apparently. I guess the real story here is that “I” am ready to deliver, but Taco Supreme is not. Bossy little cuss. She may have won the battle, but I will win the war.

The image of going to L&D to deliver a green olive made me laugh out loud. You’re on the feed, sister.
